Tar & Chip Surfacing.
Tar & Chip, also known as chip seal, is a technique used in the construction of car parks, driveways and roads. It is cost effective and is a more economical option when compared to other techniques it also has the added benefit of requiring minimal maintenance. In order for the installation to be completed a layer of hot liquid asphalt (tar) has to be applied to a prepared surface and then immediately another layer of aggregate chips covers this, the chips adhere to the sticky tar.
